Laibin City, Guangxi Overseas Affairs Office — Recently, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee of Industry and Information Technology, led by Shu Hua, visited the Qianjiang Overseas Chinese Industrial Park in Laibin City, as well as Yinhai Aluminum and Double Li Aluminum. The team toured production lines, observed daily operations, and listened to detailed reports from company executives. The visit aimed to better understand the challenges facing local aluminum companies and find practical solutions to support their development.
The aluminum industry in Laibin has been under pressure due to rising electricity costs and volatile aluminum prices since the beginning of the year. For enterprises like Yinhai Aluminum, electricity expenses account for over 40% of total production costs. This has become a major obstacle, especially for electrolytic aluminum and aluminum strip projects at the Qianjiang Aluminum Industrial Base. As a result, Yinhai Aluminum has faced significant financial losses, and the second phase of its project has been delayed, preventing it from achieving the expected scale benefits.
In response, Laibin City has requested the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee for Industry and Commerce to coordinate with relevant parties. The goal is to enable Yinhai Aluminum to use power from the Qiaogong Hydropower Station and Laibin Power Plant as a captive power supply, which could significantly reduce energy costs and improve operational efficiency.
After thoroughly reviewing the situation, Shu Hua emphasized that the Guangxi Regional Committee of Industry and Information Technology remains committed to supporting the industrial development of Laibin. The committee will work closely with regional departments to develop feasible strategies and take effective measures to help the aluminum industry overcome current difficulties.
