For floor paint applications, it's advisable to opt for high-quality rollers with short fibers made from either chemical fibers or cotton threads. Before their first use, these rollers should undergo a de-shedding process. A practical way to do this is by using clear packing tape. Simply apply the tape to the roller barrel, press down firmly, and pull it back and forth. This action will remove any loose fibers, ensuring a smoother application later.
When applying epoxy floor paint with a roller, begin by submerging about one-third to half of the roller into the prepared paint. Roll it along the inside walls of the container to ensure even absorption while pressing out any excess paint. Once coated, gently roll the roller across the base of the floor in a “W†pattern to achieve uniform coverage and consistent thickness of the paint layer. Throughout the application process, adjust the pressure applied based on the amount of paint left on the roller. Initially, when the roller is freshly dipped, reduce the pressure slightly to prevent too much paint from being released at once.
