At present, aircraft model propellers are generally obtained through purchase or hand-made; the two methods are insufficient. The purchased propellers are difficult to match with the newly designed aircraft model for optimum performance. Hand-polished propellers are difficult to control with precision and balance; they often require great effort, rich experience, constant failure and trial to get the best results.
If you can design your own propeller, you can accurately and quickly perform 3D modeling. Then, combined with CNC machining or rapid prototyping, the propeller can be processed to solve the above two problems and obtain the most ideal and precisely balanced propeller.
First, we select the leaf curve.
Refer to the figure below, where “CLACKYâ€, “NACA2412†and “NACA23012†are lift blades, generally used for aircraft fixed wings; “NACA0009†and “NACA0012†are upper and lower symmetrical leaf types, we choose the fuller “NACA0012†.

1. Draw a cylinder with a diameter of 25 and a height of 10.

3. In the sketch state, click “File†- “Enter B Splineâ€, browse to read “NACA 0012.txtâ€, and click “Enterâ€.

4. The current leaf length is 100. In the sketch, move 50 to the middle; zoom out 10 times (scale factor 0.1).
Complete the sketch and pan 100 outward.
5. Click the outer control handle of the vertical sketch direction as the rotation axis, and right-click the “copy†of the 3D ball to set the number 4, angle 5, and step size 25. A cross section with 5 axes of intersection angle difference of 5 degrees was obtained.
6. Pick up the 5 sections in turn, and select “Stakeout†in the right-click menu to generate the propeller prototype.
7. After molding, continue to modify or adjust each section. Click on the section number 1, and on the section, right-click on the menu "Edit Section".
Frame the outline and activate the 3D ball with a rotation angle of 3.

8. Click on “Next Section†and adjust the scale in turn.
