According to media reports, the functions of robots are increasing. Nakajima, an associate professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan, developed anthropomorphic robots that can swim automatically without external operations. The robot can swim forward and forth like a human freestyle. It is expected to play a role in analysing faster swimming movements and developing competition swimwear for Olympic athletes.
According to reports, the swimming robot developed this time is called "SWUMANOID", which is 89 cm tall and about half of human. Weighing about 7 kilograms, it faithfully reproduces the shape of the swimmer. "SWUMANOID" is made of resin and has 20 waterproof motors that adjust the number and position of the body's pendants to maintain balance while swimming. In addition to freestyle, you can also swim in the butterfly and backstroke.
It is reported that the researchers put "SWUMANOID" in the swimming pool and let them try freestyle in places where water does not flow. "SWUMANOID" advanced about 8.5 meters after swinging 20 times on both wrists. The speed is about 0.23 meters per second, and it takes about 108 seconds to swim in a 25-meter swimming pool. If the robot's body is equal to humans, you can swim to the end in half the time.
Researchers believe that this robot can be used not only for the analysis of swimming movements, but also for people who are not good at swimming. In addition, it is expected to be applied to the rescue of drowning people.

Important Caution:
