For many years, bearing manufacturers have traditionally used copper alloys to produce support frames. However, as concepts evolve and national policies emphasize resource conservation and sustainability, the industry has begun exploring alternatives. One such innovation is the use of ferrous metals instead of copper alloys in bearing frames. Gwangyang Group took a proactive approach by developing a reinforced four-row cylindrical roller mill bearing using Q195/08F steel. This change not only meets mechanical requirements but also significantly extends the service life of bearings.
The Q195/08F steel is used to create a strong support frame composed of columns and retaining rings. The columns are made from high-quality carbon steel 08F through cold drawing, while the two rings are formed by cold rolling steel plates of Q195. High-precision molds ensure accurate assembly, making this design superior to traditional copper-based frames.
The mechanical properties of 08F steel are impressive: it has a yield strength of at least 18 kg/mm², tensile strength of no less than 30 kg/mm², elongation of over 35%, and a Brinell hardness of no more than 131 kg/mm². These characteristics make it well-suited for bearing applications and even outperform copper alloys in several aspects.
The Q195/08F combination offers multiple advantages:
1. **Improved Rolling Length:** The reinforced four-row cylindrical roller bearing increases the effective length of the rolling body, improving radial load capacity by about 20% compared to traditional designs. The smooth groove design reduces contact area and enhances performance.
2. **Enhanced Friction Control:** By following the design specifications of the reinforced cylindrical roller mill, the layout is optimized. Cold-drawn molds reduce the friction coefficient between the roll and the frame, and radial oil grooves ensure proper lubrication, improving overall performance and extending bearing life.
3. **Precision Manufacturing:** The stamping process for the retaining ring ensures high precision and simplifies the assembly process, reducing complexity and improving efficiency.
4. **Accurate Assembly:** Special assembly tools guarantee precise alignment, ensuring the reliability and durability of the final product.
This innovative use of Q195/08F steel in bearing frames has proven highly effective in production lines for cold and hot rolling mills. It has received positive feedback from customers and represents a significant advancement in bearing technology.
