Precautions when operating the safety net in a high place

Construction safety nets are widely used on construction sites, especially in high-rise buildings, and can be fully enclosed to ensure maximum protection. These nets play a crucial role in preventing falls of people and objects, reducing the risk of fires caused by welding sparks, and minimizing noise and dust pollution. They also contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional construction environment, supporting both environmental protection and urban aesthetics.

1. Safety nets must be installed beneath working areas at height. When the building height exceeds 4 meters, safety nets should be set up and extended as the structure rises. A fixed safety net should be placed every 4 meters afterward. Nets must be installed around the outer frame, bridge-type structures, and upper and lower openings. The installation should follow a low-to-high principle, with a difference of approximately 50 cm between the higher and lower sections. The support rods must be straight, without cracks or bends. The gap between the inner edge of the net and the wall should not exceed 15 cm, and the lowest point of the net should be at least 3 meters above any object below. The supports used for the safety net must be sturdy: wooden poles should have a minimum diameter of 7 cm at the small end, bamboo poles at least 8 cm, and the spacing between the supports should not exceed 4 meters.

2. Before use, inspect the safety net for signs of corrosion or damage. During construction, it is essential that the safety net remains intact and functional, with proper support and even stress distribution. No debris should be present inside the net. The seams must be tightly secured, with no gaps. Safety nets should not be removed or damaged during work. If removal is necessary, it must be approved by the installing party, and the net must be reinstalled immediately after the work is completed. Any temporary removal due to construction needs requires prior notification and approval from the installation unit. Once the project is complete, the net must be restored according to the required standards and only used after passing inspection by the installation team.

3. Regular cleaning of debris within the net is essential. When welding operations are performed on top of the net, effective measures must be taken to prevent sparks from falling into the net. The area around the net should not be exposed to severe acid or alkali fumes for extended periods to avoid damage to the material.

4. Safety nets should be inspected regularly during use, and a record of their usage must be maintained. Any net that does not meet safety standards should be replaced or repaired immediately. When not in use, the nets should be stored properly to prevent mold and deterioration. Before using a new net, check the product label to confirm whether it is a horizontal or vertical net, and ensure they are not mixed—vertical nets should never be used as horizontal ones. The net should be securely tied at the base. Verify the manufacturer’s production license and factory certificate. If an old net is to be reused, it must be tested and come with a valid test report before being put back into service.
