Researchers found room temperature superconductivity in graphite particles

German scientists have announced the discovery of room temperature superconductors, which sounds incredible. In fact, the superconductivity they found is only a "surface effect." Room temperature superconductors are superconductors that can work at temperatures around 300K. Most superconducting materials require zero resistance at very low temperatures, so practical applications are limited. Researchers at the University of Leipzig in Germany have found that graphite particles appear superconducting at the interface between them after drying, and this surface effect occurs only on a very small fraction of the carbon powder – only 0.0001% of the total mass. They also found that superconductivity is very fragile and disappears after extrusion. Researchers say that many similar phenomena have been observed in carbon-based materials over the past few decades.
