Aluminum Oxide Transparent Ceramics Developed

Under the National Fund Research Fundamental Research Plan and the “100-person Plan” project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, recently, the Zhou Youfu Research Group of the Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials Chemistry and Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Material Structure Chinese Academy of Sciences uses domestically-produced raw materials to optimize direct nitriding. The alon ultra-fine powder with high purity and high sintering activity is synthesized at low cost, and the alon ceramic wafer (diameter 53mm) fired by ball milling, molding, and pressureless sintering, etc., has an in-line transmittance of 77.1 nm at 400 nm and 1100 nm, respectively. % and 80.6%. The above work has been published in ceramic journals (j.eur. Ceram.soc., 2015, 35, 1173-1178) and applied for Chinese invention patents.

Aluminum nitride alon transparent ceramics have visible - mid-infrared wavelength band high transmittance, excellent mechanical strength, good thermal shock resistance, etc., is the preferred material of high temperature window, infrared fairing, and single crystal materials (such as sapphire) phase In comparison, alon transparent ceramics have a low production cost and are easy to prepare large-sized special-shaped devices. The preparation of high-quality alon transparent ceramics is increasingly important.

The result is the development of alon transparent ceramic optical components with a larger size and complex shape, and provides a working basis for practical application and engineering of alon transparent ceramics.
