Guangdong Customs Data: Furniture exports increased by more than 50% in May

According to the latest statistics released by the Guangdong Branch of Customs, the total value of foreign trade imports and exports in Guangdong Province from January to May 2010 was US $ 279.37 billion, an increase of 34% over the same period of the previous year (the same below), but still lower than the national growth rate of 44%. From January to May, Guangdong ’s imports and exports to ASEAN, Japan, and Taiwan increased by more than 40%, while imports and exports to the United States grew relatively slowly, only increasing by 17.3%. In terms of export commodities, the growth rate of exports of mechanical and electrical products and high-tech products was higher than the provincial average. In May, the export of traditional intensive products showed good growth. Among them, the export growth of clothing, footwear, plastic products, luggage, toys, furniture and their parts are all more than double digits, and the export growth of toys and furniture exceeds 50%.

However, customs sources said that from January to May, the growth rate of Guangdong's exports was significantly lower than that of major foreign trade provinces and cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong and Fujian. The Guangdong foreign trade industry should actively respond to changes in the export situation during the post-crisis period and further increase exports .
