The world's major suppliers of lithium batteries in the first half of 2016

Due to the rapid growth of sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles and the increase in the average capacity of battery packs, the current lithium-ion battery market is growing faster than the electric vehicle market itself. The total amount of battery MWh produced in the first half of 2016 increased by approximately 81% - almost 8.5 GWh, while the plug-in market grew by approximately 50%. With the upcoming start of the pure electric vehicle (BEV), it is expected that the sales growth of the power battery will be even faster than the current one.

The following chart based on sales data of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles in the first half of the year:

Production data of major lithium-ion battery manufacturers in the first half of 2016 (including comparison with 15 years of data)

Production data and market share of major lithium-ion battery manufacturers in the first half of 2016
Sales of almost all major battery suppliers have grown. Among them, Panasonic maintains a market share of one-third, and from the perspective of growth rate, the growth rate of BYD is as high as 300%.
What's more interesting is that Nissan's AESC will regain its top three and return to the podium because it will use its battery in the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt (60kwh) model that will arrive in the fourth quarter.
Matsushita:

There was no accident, and due to Tesla's large battery demand, Panasonic easily took the leader's position. However, due to the decline in sales of the Volkswagen Group, Panasonic is more focused on PHEVs with less battery usage. For the rest of the year, sales to Toyota will see a significant increase due to the Prius Prime PHEV. Therefore, Panasonic's business has not changed significantly in the past.
BYD:

BYD is now in a growing trend, and is a battery manufacturer with a significant increase in market share (compared to 14% in December 15 and 6% in 14 years, currently accounting for 17%). The reason for the sharp increase is not only the EV production, but also the increase in battery pack capacity (the ** is the 2016 BYD E6 with 80kWh).
AESC:
AESC (NEC and Nissan's joint venture) benefited from the recent increase in Leaf sales, maintaining a market share of 11%, while reclaiming the third position from LG Chem.
LG Chem:
Since the sales of Volt did not increase to the expected level, the Korean manufacturer failed to keep up with the market growth trend, but there should be no need to worry too much about LG Chem. The new generation of batteries for Chevy Bolt and other models should be able to Pull back to the third position.
Samsung:
Samsung has a partnership with BMW and the increase in plug-in sales in the German auto market, although its sales have increased, but because BMW's sales are PHEV, its growth in sales is not enough to win more Market share.
GS Yuasa / Mitsubishi:

In this fast-growing market, sales of GS Yuasa / Mitsubishi have declined. Mainly due to the decline in Outlander PHEV sales and other reasons, was surpassed by the third Korean battery manufacturer SK Group.
In addition, Chinese manufacturers BPP/CATL (No. 5), Wanxiang (No. 9, SAIC supplier) and AVIC Lithium (No. 10, Condit supplier) entered the top ten rankings. 10 homes accounted for 4 in China. In addition, it is worth mentioning that due to the sales performance of the 11th E-Power (151) and Tianneng (119), China has a 33% share of the power battery market, and last year, China only got 22%, the progress is very significant.
