Argonne Laboratories develops a 500-1000 mile power battery for single charge

The University of Illinois Institute of Technology and Argonne announced on September 3 that it had obtained US$3.4 million of U.S. Department of Energy’s R&D funds for the development of electric vehicle power batteries, achieving a single charge and driving range of 500 miles to 1,000 miles.

Currently, the electric vehicle has a single charge and a driving range of 40 to 100 miles, said Carlo Segre, a professor of physics at Illinois Institute of Technology. The research on power battery technology with Agung Labs is expected to increase this figure to 500-1000 miles. . The new technology he described is based on nano-materials developed liquid batteries, which are faster than conventional batteries and do not emit carbon dioxide.

At the same time, Carlo Segre claims that the new power battery is more secure than lithium-ion batteries because it has no flammable materials inside and the temperature is extremely easy to control. In addition, according to Elena Timofeeva, a researcher at Argonne Labs, the new battery stores solar energy and wind energy in a more convenient way. (Compiled by Li Yuanyuan)
