British Returned Overseas Chinese Dr. Gao Gao and His Photovoltaic Experiments

In the future research, this kind of flexible thin film battery material can also be made into a soft backpack that can be charged anytime anywhere.” A few days ago, the reporter was Henan Provincial Key Laboratory of Photovoltaic Materials interviewed the deputy dean and professor of the College of Physics and Information Engineering of Henan Normal University and Dr. Gao Gao, a regular member of the British Returned Overseas Chinese Association.

Prof. Fang Fanggao is the director of the Henan Provincial Key Laboratory of Photovoltaic Materials. He graduated from Henan Normal University 30 years ago and later studied in the UK. From 1996 to 2003, he was a senior researcher and project at the ERITH Technology Center of the British Pirelli Group Corporation. Manager, returned to China in 2003, returned to his alma mater and started material research.

“When the sun reaches the earth in 8 minutes, the solar cell can convert the light shining on the panel into direct current in just a few seconds. The photoelectric transformation is not only rapid but also green, and the sunlight is to a certain extent inaccessible. Inexhaustible resources," Professor Chang explained, "compared to photovoltaic power generation, raw coal for thermal power generation will require several million years of deposition to form."

When it comes to photovoltaic labs, the permanent dean can't say enough. He said that the laboratory was jointly established by Henan Normal University and Henan University. Since the approval of the establishment of the Science and Technology Department of Henan Province in November 2008, he has conducted research on photovoltaic materials, including polysilicon purification technology, silicon thin-film solar cell materials, and non-silicon based materials. Thin film solar cell materials and photovoltaic AC-DC, off-grid power systems four major research directions.

Over the past few years, Henan Provincial Key Laboratory of Photovoltaic Materials has achieved a lot of research results. Dr. Qin Ruiping designed the experimental scheme for the first time and finally synthesized a conjugated linear carbodiazole 2.7 conjugate with a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 7.2%. At present, the highest international conversion efficiency is 6.4%, which is in a leading position in the world. The three technical achievements of the laboratory have successively passed provincial-level scientific and technological achievements appraisal; 19 patents have been applied, 6 national invention patents have been authorized, and 2 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards have been obtained.

“We will connect photovoltaic power generation with energy-saving appliances and directly supply the direct current generated by solar cells to the experimental building. The laboratory invested 500,000 yuan to establish a 5kW, AC-DC, parallel and off-grid photovoltaic power station, which is in sunny weather. One day can produce three to forty degrees, to meet the use of laboratory lighting.” Gao Jinhui, director of the laboratory office said. Each matrix solar panel on the power station is like a sunflower following the sun. With the different light angles, it adjusts itself to achieve maximum solar energy absorption and achieve the highest conversion efficiency. This technology is at the leading level in China.

“Mr. Gao Jinhui is the first person in the school’s electronics field. The laboratory can achieve such a fruitful result. It is the result of the efforts of 36 researchers.”

In order to better serve the local economic development, the laboratory has also established a photovoltaic industry alliance with more than 20 enterprises in Henan Province, such as Luoyang Zhongsi High-tech Co., Ltd., to solve the problems that the company has encountered, and to continuously improve research in the exchanges with companies. Direction and method to better provide technical support for the development of the photovoltaic industry.

“Photovoltaic power generation is a business that is of a modern and profitable nature. If we make photovoltaic power generation bigger and deeper, we can help local economic development, and we can also solve the problem of national energy security to a certain extent.
