LDK, the world’s largest supplier of silicon wafers, announced yesterday that the company’s 15,000-ton high-purity silicon project has been successfully put into production and is expected to be fully operational within 3 to 6 months. By then, LDK's silicon material production capacity will exceed 10,000 tons, and the company will also become the second largest polysilicon production capacity in China.

According to the announcement, LDK's 10,000-ton silicon material project, based on the new generation of improved Siemens process, has been optimized and innovated, and has adopted the world's most advanced process design, as the largest monolithic silicon project in the world. Reduction furnace production system, single furnace output, growth deposition rate and average power consumption level have reached the international advanced level. The project also boasts an industry-leading conversion rate hydrogenation system and the world's most advanced CDI recycling technology, which can recycle all the tail gas and recycle all the by-product silicon tetrachloride into trichlorosilane, in a completely closed system. Recycling.

The LDK 15,000-ton high-purity silicon project was formally launched in 2008. All the projects are divided into three phases. Each phase has a capacity of 5,000 tons and is planned to be completed in batches. In the first half of this year, the first-line 5,000 tons of the project has reached full production. After the second-line production, LDK silicon production capacity will exceed 10,000 tons, which will greatly ease the current situation of serious shortage of silicon materials.
