Baihejing family cultivation and maintenance skills

White Crane Family Cultivation and Care Tips:

The white crane, also known as Baihe, is a beautiful plant that can be propagated through rhizome division or sowing. For healthy plants, it's recommended to repot every two years, typically in spring when changing pots or after the autumn season. Before planting, gently remove the old soil from the pot, clean the rhizome, and divide it into several clusters, each containing at least three buds. Then, replant them in fresh, well-draining soil. After flowering, you can perform artificial pollination to collect seeds for future propagation. However, due to the fast growth of its stems, the rhizome method is more commonly used for breeding.

Caring for potted white cranes requires well-aerated, loose soil with good drainage. Avoid using heavy clay soils. A mix of humus soil, peat, and a small amount of perlite works well. When planting, add some compost as a base fertilizer. Since these plants grow quickly and require nutrients, apply liquid fertilizer every one to two weeks during the growing season. Keep the soil consistently moist, and mist the leaves and surrounding area during hot weather to increase humidity. If the environment becomes too dry, new leaves may become smaller and yellow, and severe cases can lead to leaf drop. In late autumn and winter, reduce watering and keep the soil slightly moist. White cranes prefer partial shade, with 60% to 70% light coverage during the growing season. Too much direct sunlight can cause leaf burn, while too little light may result in weak growth and fewer flowers. As a heat-loving plant, they are prone to root rot and yellowing if exposed to cold and damp conditions for long periods. During winter, ensure proper insulation while maintaining adequate moisture in the soil.

The white crane resembles a bamboo raft, with delicate, white flowers that resemble a crane in flight. It exudes a sense of purity, calmness, and serenity, earning it the title of "the flower of innocence." In many cultures, the white crane symbolizes good fortune, and its elegant shape has led to it being called "one sail and phoenix." With its graceful appearance, vibrant colors, and strong adaptability, it's a popular choice for indoor decoration and landscaping. Its beauty and symbolism make it a beloved addition to any garden or living space.
