Beautiful flower sorrel is a unique plant known for its fleshy stems and striking large flowers. This species features small bulbs, with a plant diameter ranging from 6 to 8 cm, leaves measuring about 1 cm in length, and blossoms reaching up to 4 cm in size. The bulb itself is relatively small, with a diameter of 1.5 to 3 mm.
Native to South Africa, this plant thrives in cool, moist, well-ventilated environments with plenty of sunlight. When cultivating it, use a loose, well-draining medium with larger particles. Adding a significant amount of coal slag to the soil can improve drainage and aeration. Plant the bulbs at a depth equal to their diameter. The ideal temperature range is between 15°C and 25°C. Once the leaves emerge from the soil, keep the soil consistently moist. During winter, ensure temperatures do not drop below 0°C. Soaking seeds in water for 24 hours before planting can help promote germination and faster growth.
