Alexander Chulyumov, associate professor and one of the authors of the Moscow State Institute of Steel and Iron Alloys, Russian State Technical Research University, said that thermal cracks and powder particles are not fused to alloys and other defects, which are typical problems of parts produced by selective laser melting technology. To this end, the researchers have developed a high-efficiency state of selective laser melting to ensure that the bulk density of the synthetic material is theoretically at a level of 99.8%.
