Food plastic packaging may cause weight gain

When shopping, a look at the ingredients list of food seems to have become a conditional reflection. If you want to lose weight, we will tend to pick some low-sugar and low-oil foods, preferably those with unsaturated fatty acids, to reduce calorie intake. However, a new German study shows that fat, carbohydrates and protein are no longer the main culprit in weight gain, and plastic packaging of foods can also cause weight gain.

German scientists conducted the test on a group of mice. The mice in this group only drank water contaminated with titanate, and another group of mice drank water without titanate as a control. After a few weeks, the body weights of the two groups of mice showed significant differences. The researchers said that this weight change is likely due to an increase in the amount of fatty acids in the blood under the action of titanate.

Titanate refers to the oxyacid salt of titanium, and the naturally occurring titanates are perovskite CaTiO3 and ilmenite FeTiO3. Generally, titanates have a structure in which a metal oxide is mixed. Anhydrous titanate can be prepared by co-melting a metal carbonate or hydroxide with titanium dioxide. So how do we avoid ingesting titanate?

The first thing to know is that PVC and PET plastic packaging contain titanate, but generally these two materials are not commonly used in food plastic packaging. Secondly, it is to avoid purchasing plastic foods in PVC and PET. If it is impossible to distinguish the plastic packaging materials, if possible, use fresh bulk foods.
