In 2011, glass substrates are still in short supply

As the medium and small-sized touch devices tend to be saturated and driven by the thinning trend of the touch panel, the demand for cover glass of medium and large-size touch applications and the characteristics of thin, pressure-resistant, and drop-resistant protective glass (Cover Glass) is eagerly met. Control panel suppliers such as Yuhong and Shenghua have already deployed separately to expand the medium-to-large size market. At the same time, they have strengthened the self-sufficiency rate of glass protection.

It is also worth noting that the shortage of glass substrates in 2011 is still lingering. According to a Display Search survey, the demand for glass substrates in the second quarter of 2010 has grown by 22% compared to the first quarter, although various glass substrate suppliers such as Corning, Asahi Glass, Nippon Electric Glass, and Sapporo Technology Glass have all expanded thin glass. The production capacity of the base edition has not been able to fill the demand gap until the third quarter of 2010 in response to the urgent market demand.
