The survival of biodiesel companies is worrying

Speaking of biomass energy, it may not be known to a few people, but I am afraid that few people do not know about waste oil.

Once upon a time, the waste oil had been transferred from the raw materials of biodiesel companies to people's tables. However, on the one hand, biodiesel companies have closed down due to the lack of waste oil, and on the other side, a large amount of waste oil has rushed to the dining table. The industry insiders shouted. Where are the biodiesel companies?

Survive in suffering

Ditch oil is the main raw material for biodiesel production. In the increasingly tense situation of non-renewable energy such as oil, the advantage of biodiesel is self-evident. Its huge profit space has also set off a boom in investment in biodiesel throughout the country.

However, the landscape is not long. Since 2006, many biodiesel companies that have been in great numbers have begun to decline. At present, many companies have reached the brink of bankruptcy, or partially suspended production or completely stopped production. Even the Jiangxi New Era Oil Industry Co., Ltd., which invested hundreds of millions of dollars in construction a few years ago, has stopped production. The existence of many other small-scale private biodiesel companies is worrying.

“The entire industry is in a bad mood. Now that companies can barely survive, it is already very good.” Wang, a director of a biodiesel company in Shandong, reluctantly told reporters.

Since 2006, one of the raw materials of biodiesel has seen rapid rise in the price of waste oil, making the profitability of biodiesel companies squeezed step by step. "In 2006, the price of waste oil was 2,700 yuan / ton, now it is more than 6,000 yuan / ton, while the price of bio-diesel is also more than 5,000 yuan / ton. The company produces bio-diesel, in fact, is a loss of production." Wang director Say.

With the rapid increase in the price of cooking oil, raw materials such as cooking oil have also been in short supply in recent years. “The clever woman is hardly rice-free, and the original low-priced waste oil has become a hot commodity. Many companies have to stop production because they cannot find raw materials.” Wang's face is frustrating.

Drain oil on the dining table

In the era of high oil prices, the collective collapse of biodiesel companies left people with endless thoughts. Where is the huge amount of waste oil sold? What caused the price of waste oil to rise?

"I used to think that the diner was using cooking oil and later learned that retail and wholesale cooking oil could also have cooking oil." The dean of the Institute of Applied Chemistry at Tsinghua University made a speech at the Sohu Finance New Energy Forum. Surprised.

At present, there are 2 million to 3 million tons of waste oil returned to the table every year. The total annual consumption of animal and vegetable oils by the Chinese is about 22.5 million tons. That is to say, according to the ratio, if one person eats 10 meals, there may be one cooking oil that is caught in one meal.

“The manufacturers who sell cooking oil to restaurants and produce edible oil are far more profitable than those sold to biodiesel companies. Who will make a loss-making deal?” said one Lee of Hebei, who purchased cooking oil. In hundreds of cities in China, wherever there is a catering industry, there is recycling of waste oil. It is understood that the cost of extracting 1 ton of waste oil from food and kitchen waste in the restaurant industry is only about 300 yuan.

"You can earn 70 or 80 yuan a barrel of oil. If you buy 4 barrels a day, you can only sell half of the edible oil market price, and you can earn more than 10,000 yuan per month," said Lee.

In Andy Dehua's view, "the emergence of waste oil and other issues does not mean that the bio-energy industry itself has had problems. It is more because of policy supervision, including the policy environment that is supporting the development of bio-diesel."

At present, in many foreign countries, the fuel tax is equivalent to 60% to 100% of the fuel cost, and biodiesel is tax-exempt. In China, the fuel tax policy implemented since 2009 is about 8 cents per liter of oil. 9 gross fuel tax.

“This is the difference of interest. When domestic gasoline and diesel prices go up to a higher price, making the waste oil flow to gasoline and diesel as raw materials is more beneficial than the flow to the table, the amount of waste oil turned into edible oil will be greatly reduced. This is The fundamental solution to the problem of waste oil," said Andy Lau.
