Three hot spots triggered concern in the aluminum industry

From June 13th to 14th, 2006, China International Aluminum Processing Technology and Equipment Forum was held in Shanghai. Nearly 200 people from China, the United States, Germany, Russia, and India attended the forum. Pan Jiazhu, vice president and secretary-general of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, and Ding Haiyan, assistant to general manager of China Aluminum Corporation, made wonderful speeches from experts from Russia, India and other countries.

In his speech, Pan Jiazhu fully affirmed the rapid progress made in the aluminum processing industry in China in recent years and the gratifying progress made in process technology and equipment. He pointed out that in the strategic deployment of the Party Central Committee to build a well-off society in an all-round way, there is still room for development in the aluminum processing industry, especially in high-precision products. According to statistics, the per capita consumption of aluminum strips in the world was 1.7 kilograms per person per year in 1998, compared with 1.1 kilograms per person per year in our country. Even if it only reaches the world per capita level, China still needs to increase production by about 700,000 tons, which is still far behind the United States’ 15.7 kg/person-year and Japan’s 9.3 kg/person-year levels. The development of space.

Although China’s production of aluminum profiles has been ranked high in the world, there is still room for development in terms of per capita consumption. At present, the per capita consumption of aluminum profiles in China is 2.0 kg/person per year, while Japan has reached 10.1 kilograms per person per year, and the United States has 6.7 kilograms per person per year.

In addition, according to data analysis, due to the success of China's bid for the Olympics and Shenbo, and the rapid development of the real estate industry, the demand for aluminum profiles in China will reach 3.2 million tons by 2010. Moreover, due to the low production cost of aluminum profiles in China (extrusion cost is 60% in the United States and surface treatment cost is 40% in the United States), the rapid growth of aluminum profiles exports can be expected. It is also predicted that by 2010 China's net export of aluminum profiles can reach 600,000 tons.

Pan Jiazhu pointed out that the three hot spots of development in China's aluminum processing industry should be given attention.

The former hotspot is the construction of the current aluminum strip hot rolling line. Domestic companies such as Mingtai Aluminum, Southwest Aluminum, Nanshan Group, Asian Aluminum, and Bohai Aluminum have invested in hot continuous rolling production lines. According to statistics, the total number of hot rolling production lines under construction or proposed to be built reaches 6-7, up to 2008. Annually will add 2 million tons of production capacity. According to analysis, China's domestic market demand before 2010 is only 120 to 1.5 million tons, is bound to emerge another supply exceeding demand situation.

The second hot spot for aluminum processing is the 2000mm class extra width foil mill. According to the information release, the country’s original 10 units are already in production, and the new ones have reached 13 units, so that the total number of such domestic foil mills will reach 23 to 26 units, which is more than the sum of the number of such mills in other countries in the world. The problem is that in addition to the limited market capacity, most of the high-end wide-wool fabrics required have not been implemented, and they cannot be provided at home in recent years.

Various profile companies have added large-scale extrusion presses to form the third hot spot in the aluminum processing industry. At present, there are 9 large-scale extrusion production lines in China. If 10 production lines such as Nanshan Group, Liaoning Zhongwang, Jinqiao and Fengluo are all put into production, China will become a country with more large-scale extrusion presses in the world and aluminum extrusion. In countries with large material production capacity, the total production capacity will far exceed the total global demand for large aluminum extrusions.

At the same time, he also pointed out that in addition to the three hot issues, there are still other problems in the development of China's aluminum industry. For example, aluminum foil manufacturers are small, with an average output of only 0.7 million tons (calculated by only 70 companies in production). In Japan, there are only 7 aluminum foil companies with an average output of 28,000 tons; in Western Europe, North America averages 31,000 tons; uneven levels of equipment are also a major problem. In China, there are aluminum foil mills that have reached the international advanced level; there are also more than 280 two-roll aluminum foil mills to be eliminated. In addition, there is a large gap between the plate type control system and the rolling speed.

In addition, there is still room for structural adjustment in our country's extruders. China's extruder is currently only 1750 units in production, of which nearly 95% is less than 1,500 tons of extruders, and the total number of extrusion presses that should be eliminated is less than 1,000 tons. All these problems have yet to be resolved.

Ding Haiyan also believes that in the next five years, the development of aluminum processing capacity will enter a period of rapid growth, the replacement of different levels of capabilities (the introduction of high-end capabilities, product exports; the mid-range capabilities will be squeezed; low-end will Being integrated and eliminated will become a necessity. At the same time, China's aluminum processing industry will also participate better in the international division of labor.
